การพัฒนาตนเองของครูผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษเป็นการพัฒนาทางอาชีพอย่างต่อเนื่องและหยุดไม่ได้เพราะภาษาเป็นสิ่งที่มนุษย์ใช้ทุกวันเพื่อติดต่อสื่อสาร ภาษาจึงเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงในช่วงเวลาต่างๆ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการเจริญเติบโตของสื่อสังคมต่างๆ ทำให้การใช้ภาษามีการเปลี่ยนแปลง ครูจึงควรศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงของภาษา แต่ทั้งนี้ครูต้องยึดมั่นความเป็นภาษาอังกฤษมาตรฐานและความถูกต้องทั้ง 4 ทักษะ ไม่ว่าจะด้านการพูด การออกเสียง การฟังการอ่าน และ การเขียน ที่สำคัญครูต้องเข้าใจและสามารถอธิบายพร้อมกับยกตัวอย่างที่ถูกต้องให้นักเรียนของตน นอกจากนี้ ครูยังต้องหาแนวทางในการพัฒนาตนเอง รวมถึงการพัฒนาการจัดการเรียนการสอนในห้องเรียนด้วย

The development of oneself as an English teacher is a continuing professional development since language is the thing that has been used every day to communicate by human; so it has been changing from time to time especially according to the growth of social media. Teachers themselves have to study the changes of language. Nevertheless, teachers still have to use the Standard English and learn the accuracy of the language in 4 skills ranging from speaking skill and pronunciation, listening skill, reading skill to writing skill. Teachers also have to understand and be able to explain the use of English and give good examples to the students. Moreover, teachers have to find out the way to develop themselves in English usage and English teaching methods for their classrooms.
