งานสร้างแบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์ เป็นเครื่องมือในการสอนที่เน้นให้ผู้เรียนได้นำความรู้และกระบวนการทางคณิตศาสตร์ไปแก้สถานการณ์ปัญหาในโลกจริง การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์ลักษณะสำคัญของงานสร้างแบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์ที่มีระดับคุณภาพแตกต่างกัน เพื่อให้ผู้อ่านได้นำข้อค้นพบดังกล่าวไปใช้เป็นแนวทางและข้อพิจารณาในการออกแบบงานสร้างแบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์ การดำเนินการวิจัยแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1) ศึกษาระดับคุณภาพของงานสร้างแบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์ที่ออกแบบโดยนักศึกษาครู จำนวน 6 งานตามเกณฑ์การประเมินที่กำหนด และ 2) คัดเลือกและวิเคราะห์ลักษณะสำคัญของงานสร้างแบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์ที่มีระดับคุณภาพตั้งแต่ B ขึ้นไป (B, B⁺, A และ A⁺) ระดับคุณภาพละ 1 งาน รวมเป็น 4 งาน การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้การวิเคราะห์เอกสารและนำเสนอผลการวิเคราะห์ด้วยการพรรณนาเนื้อหา ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่า 1) งานทุกระดับคุณภาพมีลักษณะสำคัญความเหมือนกันที่พบคือ บริบทของสถานการณ์ปัญหาที่มีความเชื่อมโยงกับโลกจริง และมีความเปิดให้ผู้แก้ปัญหาได้ตีความและตั้งข้อตกลงเบื้องต้น และ 2) ความแตกต่างของงานแต่ละระดับที่พบคือ ความสมจริงและความชัดเจนของข้อมูลและเงื่อนไขของสถานการณ์ปัญหา และความซับซ้อนและท้าทายของคำถามในสถานการณ์ปัญหาที่สัมพันธ์กับกระบวนการสร้างแบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์

     Mathematical modelling tasks are teaching materials that encourage students to apply their knowledge and mathematical process to solve real-world problems. This study aimed to analyze significant features of the mathematical modelling tasks with varying quality levels designed by pre-service math teachers (PSTs) so that the findings will assist the teachers in the development of the guidelines in the design of their mathematical modelling tasks. The research was divided into two stages as 1) studying the quality levels of six mathematical modelling tasks designed by PSTs based on the established criteria and 2) selecting and analyzing the features of four quality mathematical modelling tasks obtaining Grades B, B⁺, A and A⁺, one task from a grade level totaling 4 tasks. This research adopted documentary analysis presented by narration.

    The research results indicated that 1) all the selected tasks shared a similarity, that is, the mathematical situational contexts were related to the real world problems offering open choices for the problem solvers to interpret and establish their preliminary assumptions, and 2) the situational problems showed differences in data authenticity and information and condition explicitness in situational problems, as well as problem situation complexity and challenging questions in the problematic situations in relation to the mathematical modelling process across all task quality levels.
